Here is the most beautiful and certainly one of the most challenging colors for the Netherland Dwarf breeder. You will notice some with very bright clean color and others with a gray or smutty cast to the color. The "smut" is the result of being to closely bred to Chestnuts which gives ticking to the surface coat and a blue under color. Long thin ears are the norm and a real challenge to correct. Breeding to the chestnuts can improve type and shorten ears but the smut is an issue with color. You may click on any image for a larger view.
